Sinking
Sinking
Holding me down underwater
Deep breaths I take beneath the surface
Killing me softly
The quicksand I drowned in the estuary
Beneath the bottom of the fiery hole
Downward do I plunge a thousand feet
Buried in the overwhelm of my overcome
There, water in my lungs
Sunken like wet stones
I breathed my last breath
Below the undercurrent blues
As I lay low in the firmament
Of the belly of the sea
Like submarines
